UL’s Amos Sawyer College Honours Graduates, Others For Excellence

Dr. Herman Brown Urges Them To Always Strive To Make Impact

Several graduates of the Amos Sawyer College of Social Sciences and Humanities have received honours for their academic performances at the University of Liberia (UL).

The Amos Sawyer College, formerly Liberia College is one of six colleges at the UL that provides tertiary education in more then seven academic disciplines.

The college also honored several members of the faculty and staff of the nation’s highest institution of learning for their contributions to the advancement of tertiary education in Liberia.

Delivering the keynote address at the honoring ceremony held at the UL’s main campus at Fendell outside Monrovia on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, the former President of Cuttington University, Rev. Dr. Herman Brown challenged the graduates to use the knowledge acquired to impact the country.

Dr. Brown lauded the students for remaining steadfast in achieving academic excellence.

For his part, UL President Dr. Julius Sarwolo Nelson cautioned the honorees to be agents on change in society.

Dr. Nelson admonished the Sawyer College leadership to continue to strive for improvement in the college.

The University of Liberia president further revealed plans to integrate several graduate programs into various undergraduate colleges at the University.

Earlier, the Dean of Sawyer College, Prof. Dr. Josephus Gray said that the honoured students, faculty and staff merited the awards given to them.

Dr. Gray said this College has been the trail blazer for academic excellence in the history of the University of Liberia since Liberia College was first established in 1862.

The year- end- honoring exercise at the Amos Sawyer College  recognizes the efforts of students, staff and faculty members for their efforts in promoting academic excellence at the state-owned University of Liberia.
