Liberia’s Vice President, Jewel Howard Taylor broke ground on J. J. Roberts’s Birthday on March 15 for the construction of a six classroom school building to be erected by Go Ye Ministries of Dr. Lincoln S. Brown, Jr.
The First Female Vice President of Liberia, Madam Taylor and entourage politely drove though Sarpawean Village, 2 miles from the RIA Road on Towel Hill, to perform the groundbreaking ceremony which coincided with the 212th Birth Anniversary of Liberia’s First President Joseph Jenkins Roberts.
Madam Vice President highlighted the contribution to education President Roberts made that still remains enforced and active across the country. She named the University of Liberia which came as Liberia College under the administration of President Roberts. She also paid homage to the First President for the ever potent J. J. Roberts Educational Foundation entrusted to The United Methodist Church, which Mrs. Taylor qualified as the oldest foundation in the nation. VP Taylor believes The United Methodist Church in Liberia has successfully built schools across the nation, because of the legacy President Robert laid before his demise.
The Vice President used the occasion to encourage Liberian citizens to contribute to the development of the country in whatever means at their disposal. She commended the founder of Go Ye Ministries Liberia USA, Dr. Lincoln Brownell, Jr., former president of the Liberia Baptist Seminary. She praised Dr. Brownell for his vision intended to benefit children of Sarpawean. The Vice President also acknowledged and appreciated the support of all partners and coworkers of Dr. Brownell.
As for her contribution to the construction project, Vice President Taylor committed herself to helping the school get constructed in considerable period of time; therefore, she requested the engineer to sit with her and guide her intervention accordingly. As well, Vice President Taylor committed working out a partnership to launch a public library ahead of the construction.
USA based partners and officials of Go Ye Ministries including the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Brownell participated via internet coverage.
More than five of his strong partners spoke excitement of their involvement in a village school project that may educate children with little or no sustainable income to educate their children.
