His presentation was on a draft bill on data protection in Nigeria. It is in this light that he stress the need to engage people in charge of data breaches in order to curtail the culture of impunity.
A report on Digital Rights privacy in Nigeria was presented by the Net Rights advocacy group’s Program Manager, Adeboye Adegoke.
Mr. Adegoke provided personal data protection tips such as keeping safe contact information that are not really intended to be use even when are requested for or away from fraudsters posing as bank agents.
Sharing information and sending emails through encryption was a theme that resonated at the meeting.
Mr. Adegoke further cautioned internet users on installing application that are not necessary as it increases the risk of accounts being hacked. Recently a workshop held in this light give birth to the composition of a draft of a Digital Rights and Freedom Bill 2020 for Tanzania, according to the Paradigm Initiative report.
This was inspired by Nigeria’s Digital Rights and Freedom Bill. Paradigm Initiative builds on ICT enable support system, a digital rights advocacy group based in Nigeria with coalition members in over thirty African countries, and communicate across Africa. The Initiative was founded in 2007.
