Amid the challenges faced by students due to increasing enrollment at Cuttington University Junior College, and in fulfillment of his commitment to educational development, Margibi County District #4 Representative, Emmanuel Yarh, has officially broken ground for the construction of a modern annex on the institution’s campus.
The colorful groundbreaking ceremony was held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the university campus along the Bong Mines Road in Kakata, Margibi County.
The event brought together members of the university administration, faculty, graduating students, community leaders, and well-wishers, marking the beginning of a transformative project valued at over US$39,000.
Upon completion, the annex will feature two modern classrooms, a teachers’ cafeteria, and bathroom facilities, all designed to enhance the teaching and learning environment for both students and faculty members.
Speaking on behalf of the university administration, Rev. Fr. Terry Quoi, Associate Vice President of Cuttington University Junior College, expressed profound gratitude to Rep Yarh for responding to one of the institution’s critical infrastructural needs. He praised the lawmaker’s dedication to educational development and described the project as a significant investment in the future of Liberia’s young people.
“It takes a generous person to respond to those striving for success. I also encourage other elected officials to follow the good example set by Hon. Yarh,” Rev. Fr. Quoi stated.
Also delivering remarks was Joshua Tokpah, President of the Graduating Class, who explained that the project was initially conceived by the graduating class as a contribution toward improving the institution’s academic infrastructure. However, due to financial constraints, the students were unable to undertake the project independently and subsequently sought assistance from Hon. Yarh.
Moved by the students’ vision and determination, Hon. Yarh agreed to fully finance the project, transforming what once seemed an ambitious dream into reality.
In his remarks, the Margibi County Representative Yarh reaffirmed his belief that education remains the foundation for national development. He encouraged students to remain committed to their studies and assured them of his continued support for initiatives that promote educational advancement and youth empowerment.
The US$39,000 project is expected to be completed within four months and will provide additional learning space and improved facilities that will benefit both current and future generations of students.
Rep. Yarh’s gesture demonstrates how responsive leadership can positively impact communities and educational institutions, leaving a lasting legacy in the history of Cuttington University Junior College and the people of Margibi County.
As a token of appreciation, members of the graduating class honored and gowned Rep. Emmanuel Yarh in recognition of his support and commitment to the institution’s growth and development.
