KAKATA, Liberia – The Administrator of the Kakata Health Center,  Emmanuel Karngae has issued an urgent call for the Liberian government, through the Ministry of Health, to allocate a larger budget to ensure the smooth operation of the facility in Margibi County.

This is the second government referral health center in this sprawling city.

This appeal comes in the wake of the devastating fire that gutted the C.H. Rannie Hospital on August 15, 2021, which remains partially completed and non-operational. As a result, the Kakata Health Center, located in the Francis Lewis Farm Community, has become the sole hope for residents in Kakata and its surrounding areas seeking medical care.

“There is a pressing need for the national government to increase the facility’s budget to ensure its smooth operation and service delivery to the public,” Mr. Karngae added.

He stressed that the health center is struggling to meet the demands of the growing population in Margibi County and neighboring regions.

“The facility is challenged to cover the expanding number of people in Margibi and adjoining counties. We cannot continue to operate under such constraints without adequate financial support,” he mentioned.

Mr. Karngae also called on the county administration, led by Superintendent OJ Morris, and the Margibi County Legislative Caucus, headed by Representative Ivar K. Jones of District #2, to rally behind the government in bolstering the health facility.

In a show of commitment, the administrator vowed to transform the Kakata Health Center by equipping it with essential drugs, installing air conditioning, and ensuring that medications are consistently available to patients. “We are determined to make this facility a model of healthcare delivery,” Karngae asserted.

Recently, the administration broke ground for the fencing of the Kakata Health Center and the extension of the OB Wall, signaling progress in infrastructure development.

Mr. Karngae assured residents of Margibi County to remain patient and supportive as his administration actively engaged with relevant authorities to improve the facility for the benefit of all.

“We are constructively working with the appropriate bodies to make this health center better for everyone. Kindly continue to stand with us,” he said.
