“Introduction Of Fisheries Science Degree Program A Relief”

Monrovia-The Deputy Director General for Administration at the National Fisheries and Aquaculture (NaFAA) says the CDC led-government would be providing students a glorious opportunity to study Fisheries Science in Liberia upon the introduction of the program at the state run University of Liberia.

Mr. Augustine Musa Manoballah stated with the introduction of the Fisheries Science degree program students will spend less financially and gain accurate knowledge in fisheries science courses and at the same time help impact the sector.

The NaFAA’s Deputy Director General for Administration said “the introduction of the fisheries science degree program is a relief for students who are not financially potent to travel internationally to gain such degree.

Mr. Manoballah further stated that the days of Liberian students seek financial support to acquire degrees in fisheries sciences internationally are over as their government with assistance from the world Bank would create the conducive environment for them to obtain such degree.

Speaking Thursday during the Ministry of Information regular press briefing, Hon Manoballah noted that “now is the time that those students who have had intention to work and impact the fisheries sector acquire degree locally in fisheries science, A NaFAA press release said.

He at the same time, indicated that such program at the state run University of Liberia will help breach the knowledge gap and enable more Liberians have fair appreciation of the potential of the fisheries sector.

Meanwhile, NaFAA Deputy Director General explained that the 1.2 million United Stated dollars from the World Bank is intended for infrastructure development and training of fisheries science Lecturers.

It can be recalled on March 10, 2022, the Management of NaFAA and Administration of UL signed an MOU intended for the introduction of Fisheries Science Degree program at the University of Liberia.
