The new Lebanese Ambassador to Liberia has paid a courtesy call on Liberian Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor, announcing that the Lebanese Cultural Union will begin a Scholarship program shortly to assist students in the pursuit of their educational sojourn.
Ambassador Henri Kastoun recalled the positive role of the Lebanese Cultural Union in Liberia which has a new leadership and has been helpful in providing equipment for skilled training of students at William V.S. Tubman High School.
A release from the VP’s office said Vice President Howard-Taylor on Thursday received in audience the new Lebanese envoy, Kastoun at her Capitol Building Office in Monrovia.
VP Howard- Taylor welcomed the Ambassador and reaffirmed the statement of His Excellency George Manneh Weah, President of the Republic of Liberia, that Liberia is opened for business.
The release said the Liberian Vice President however, emphasized that investment opportunities should provide long-term jobs for the growing youthful population of Liberia.
She asked the Ambassador to consider arranging a Trade Delegation of Lebanese Government Officials and Businessmen to visit Liberia and explore investment opportunities.
Ambassador Kastoun congratulated the VP Howard-Taylor on her election as Vice President and praised Liberia for a peaceful political democratic transition, which offers promising democratic prospects for African countries.
The Lebanese Ambassador highlighted that Liberia has huge investment potential in the tourism, medical and energy sectors.
