Liberia gets 1st female Deputy Army Chief of Staff

President George Weah has on Monday appointed a woman as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), the first female ever to serve at the top of the Liberian military.

An Executive Mansion press release issued a short while ago, named Colonel Geraldine George among the latest batch of nominations and appointments in his government, which took office on January 22, 2018.

Col. George, soon to be the first Liberian army female General, studied in the US Army Command and General Staff College and was enlisted into the  restructured AFL several years ago.

President Weah’s nominations and appointments also affect the Grand Bassa and Sinoe Counties and the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, the release said.

Those appointed and nominated include:

Grand Bassa County

Benjamin Greaves                                         –           Commissioner, Hardlandsville Township

Emmanuel K. Taylue                                     –           Commissioner, Neekreen Township

Sinoe County

Otis Seeton                                                     –           Mayor, Greenville City

Barbara Keah                                                      –     Assistant Superintendent for Development

Gift Morris                                                     –           Assistant Superintendent for Fiscal Affairs

Augustine G. Swen                                        –           County Inspector

Armed Forces of Liberia

Col. Geraldine George                                   –           Deputy Chief of Staff

Ministry of Post and Telecommunications

                 

Prosper Brown                                             –           Deputy Minister for Technical Services

Edwin Kumon                                                –           Deputy Minister for Postal Operations

 

 

Meanwhile, these nominations and appointments are subject to confirmation by the Honorable Liberian Senate where applicable.
