The grounds of the Temple of Justice on Capitol Hill, which hosts the Supreme Court of Liberia and other lower courts, on Friday, April 16, 2020 turned into a boxing ring, when controversial opposition Lawmaker, Representative Yekeh Kolubah’s former and current bodygurads entered into a fist fight.

Rep. Kolubah is a member of the opposition Alternative National Congress (ANC).

It was about 11am GMT, when ex and current body guards of the Montserrado County District #10 Lawmaker, Kolubah started the fight, after testifying against him in the Criminal Court ‘A’’. In the testimony, the former bodyguards said that indeed they had placed the gun that was found in one of Yekeh Kolubah’s pickup during the January 6, 2020 Council of Patriots street protest in Monrovia.

A scene outside the court on Friday

Rep. Kolubah is currently in court facing multiple charges, ranging from aggravated assault, criminal attempt to commit murder, criminal facilitation and Solicitation.

The District #10 Lawmaker was charged along with his former bodyguards with the same charges name above.

Rep. Yekeh Kolubah’s ex-bodyguards now turned into State Witnesses are Oliver C. Konneh, Abu Keita, Mohammed S. Keita, Joehnson Kpor and Mohammed A. Kaba. But the charges against them were Nolle Prosequoi or dropped, in order to secure their testifmonies on behalf of the state.

After Friday’s court proceedings, Yekeh Kolubah’s current bodyguard got enraged by the testimony with heated exchanges between the two sides that eventually led into the fighting.

Rep. Kolubah being interviewed by Journalists

In an interview with one of the ex-bodyguards whose charges was dropped, Abu Keita, repeated what he said earlier that during January 6, 2020 COP protest, Representative Yekeh Kolubah gave them gun to put in the jeep.

All of them admitted to knowing about the gun being placed in the Lawmaker’s jeep and even calling on the police to do their finger print to prove what they are saying.

According to Keita, Rep. Kolubah’s jeep which had the gun was not properly searched by the state security apparatus on the protest scene.

Mr. Keita further narrated that the Liberian National Police Deputy Inspector General for Operations (102) got the information about them having gun in their possession and said the gun was been placed in front of his colleague, Teah. It was detected by 102 security upon their arrival at the scene of the protest.

The former bodyguard of Yekeh Kolubah confessed that he (their former boss) is still in possession of gun, despite the search and seizure warrant issued before June 7, 2019 COP protest and that he (Keita) also knows who can supply Representative Kolubah gun.

The former bodyguard of the Montserrado County District #10 Representative stated that they were told by Rep. Kolubah to tear the pickup seat and place the gun there, adding that ‘if the Police could be linked with them on the day of the protest on January 6,2020,” they could certainly expose their employer deeds.

They unanimously agreed that they would place the gun in the pickup on January 6, 2020 but it was allegedly given to them by Rep. Yekeh Kolubah.

However, Rep. Kolubah has repeated denied the claims and in fact has accused the police of planting the gun in his vehicle to implicate him.
