The second most competitive tournament of the Liberia Kickball Federation (LKF) – Margibi Sub-Association, the 2026 Knockout Competition, continues today, Sunday, 31 May.
The tournament kicked off on Saturday, 30 May at the 14th Road Sports Pitch in Kakata, with eight clubs competing in the opening round of the competition.
Mighty Power KC, Surprise KC, Fuamah Girls KC, and Vision Sister KC have all secured qualification to the next stage of the competition.
Mighty Power KC began their campaign in style with a 3-1 victory over defending champions Dream Girls KC in game one, while Kamara KC pulled off a surprise 2-1 win over tournament favorites United Angels KC in game two.
At the same time, Surprise KC booked their place after a commanding 4-0 penalty shootout victory over God’s Favour KC following a goalless draw at full time.
Meanwhile, Vision Sister KC advanced automatically after receiving a bye in the opening round.
In today’s fixtures, scheduled for Sunday, 31 May, at the Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata, action will kick off at 1:30 PM. Last year’s finalists and runners-up Surprise KC will face Fuamah Girls KC in game one, while newcomers Mighty Power KC and Kamara KC will clash in game two at 2:30 PM.
Interestingly, Vision Sister KC once again received a bye following another draw, earning automatic qualification to the semifinals of the competition.
According to the organizers, the quarterfinal stage will, for the first time, introduce the “best loser” rule, where the strongest-performing team among the two defeated sides will advance to the semifinals.
Kakata-based Dream Girls KC won last year’s edition of the competition, securing their first major competitive trophy under the supervision of the Sub-Association.
Although the official sponsor of this year’s competition has not yet been announced, it is understood that on Saturday, 30 May, Prioritizing OurKids, through B. Abraham Smart, boosted the Subassociation with a contribution of LD$50,000.00, becoming the first grassroots team to officially support the Subassociation since its establishment.
