Monrovia, Liberia, July 6, 2026 – The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Liberia has officially handed over critical Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment to the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC) as part of its continued support to strengthen public institutions and promote good governance.
The equipment, comprising a power server and an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), was presented on July 3, 2026, at the offices of the PPCC in Monrovia attended by the Executive Director of the PPCC, Bodger Scott Johnson, UNDP Liberia Deputy Resident Representative, Louis Kuukpen and staff from both institutions.
The ICT infrastructure is expected to significantly enhance the PPCC’s institutional capacity by improving data management, strengthening digital operations, and ensuring business continuity in the face of Liberia’s frequent power interruptions.
The support will also improve the Commission’s operational efficiency and reinforce its ability to effectively oversee public procurement and concession processes.
Speaking during the handover, Bodger Scott Johnson expressed appreciation to UNDP for its continued partnership and support, noting that the new infrastructure will enhance the Commission’s ability to deliver on its mandate with greater efficiency, transparency, and accountability.
“We are deeply grateful to UNDP for this timely and valuable support. The provision of this ICT infrastructure will significantly strengthen our operational capacity, improve data management, and ensure greater continuity in our work despite recurring power challenges. As the institution responsible for promoting transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public procurement and concessions, these resources will enhance our ability to deliver on our mandate and better serve the people of Liberia,” Executive Director Johnson stressed.
UNDP Liberia Deputy Resident Representative Mr. Louis Kuukpen reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting national institutions in building resilient governance systems. He underscored the importance of investing in digital infrastructure to strengthen public service delivery and improve institutional performance.
“Strong institutions are the foundation of sustainable development and good governance. Through this support, UNDP is helping to strengthen the digital capacity and operational resilience of the PPCC to effectively carry out its critical oversight role. We remain committed to partnering with national institutions to promote transparency, accountability, and efficient public service delivery, while supporting Liberia’s broader governance and development priorities,” Kuukpen said.
During the discussions, both institutions emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration among government entities and development partners, improving coordination and information-sharing, and ensuring that established administrative processes support the effective implementation of institutional priorities.
The meeting also highlighted the need for sustained engagement to address operational challenges and reinforce accountability across public institutions.
The handover demonstrates the value of partnerships between UNDP and national institutions in advancing governance reforms, promoting transparency and fair competition in public procurement, and strengthening public confidence in government systems.
