MONROVIA- The Government and People of Liberia have through the Ministry of Youth Sports recently applauded three professional soccer athletes with Liberian Origins, who are now featuring for the United States and Canada in the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The three are Alphonso Davies representing Canada National Team and Timothy Weah and Haji Wright both also representing the United States of America Soccer Team in the 2026 FIFA World Cup In the Americas.
According to a release by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, dated June 12, 2026, the inclusion of the Three professional soccer players in the most talk about FIFA World Cup recognizes their exceptional skills and talents of Liberian heritage whose achievements continue to inspire young people across the globe as Player Wright, who plays as a forward for English club Conventry City whose performance at the highest level of football continue to inspire young athletes in football.
Timothy Weah, a son of former President and Ballon d’Or of Liberia, George Manneh Weah, who is presenting the United States alongside Haji Wright on the international scene while carrying forward a legacy deeply rooted and tie to his father as a Liberian Decent likewise, the Canadian Professional, Alphonso Davies, whose remarkable journey from a Liberian refugee family to becoming one of the world’s most respected footballers.

Haji Amir Wright (born March 27, 1998) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a forward or winger for Premier League club Coventry City and his second cousin, Isaac Nana Addai, played for the Liberia National Team Under -23.
