Nigerian To Be Deported After Serving His 20 Years Jail Term At Monrovia Central Prison

KAKATA, Liberia – The 13th Judicial Circuit Court here in Margibi County 55 kilometers from Monrovia has handed down its final judgment in the long-running drug trial involving officers of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) and a Nigerian national.

Early this month, a 12-member jury panel at the 13th Judicial Circuit Court here in Margibi has returned a guilty verdict against two senior officers of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) and a Nigerian national for their involvement in a major drug trafficking scheme valued at US$181,008 and LD$63,201,600. Now today, Tuesday, September 29, 2026, Presiding Judge, His Honor, Roosevelt Z. Willie sentenced Tony Obi, Lovertee L. Fallah, and Joe Logan to twenty (20) years in prison each.

The sentencing comes a day after the Supreme Court of Liberia read its mandate, paving the way for the Circuit Court’s final decision.

The three convicts, including two LDEA officers and Nigerian national Tony Obi, were found guilty on charges linked to illicit drugs, in a case that has gripped Margibi County for months.

The court ruled that the sentence will serve as a strong deterrent and reaffirmed its commitment to accountability and integrity within the security sector.

Tony Obi will also be deported to Nigeria after serving his 20 years sentence in Liberia according to the ruling.
