Urges Parties To Refrain From Unilateral Actions, Calls For Full Implementation Of UN Resolutions

New York, USA–In accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions, the Republic of Liberia has reiterated calls for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, a dispatch from the Liberian Mission says.

Speaking Monday at the UN Security Council’s 10230th meeting, Prutus Sackie, Liberia’s Political Coordinator to the United Nations Security Council, asserted that a lasting peace requires Israel and Palestine to coexist as independent nations living side by side with secure borders.

He urged all parties to refrain from unilateral actions that alter the facts on the ground and foreclose the prospect of two states.

According to him, Liberia seeks the complete and faithful implementation of Resolution 2803, stressing its authorized transitional and stabilization mechanisms should facilitate Palestinian statehood instead of diverting from it.

Liberia also reiterated its commitment to align fully with international law, Security Council resolutions, and the 2024 Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice, he disclosed.

The opportunity for a two-state solution exists but is limited; Liberia supports nations and leaders willing to pursue this path, he noted.

In 1947, Liberia voted in favor of General Assembly Resolution 181, which envisioned an independent Palestinian state and an independent Jewish state.
