The high command of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) has reportedly asked the Africa Command of the United States Armed Forces for logistics to equip the newly constructed 14th Military Hospital on the Monrovia Roberts field highway.
AFL Chief of Staff, Major General Prince C. Johnson, said the request was made because the US army through the Michigan National Guard provided the laboratory currently being used by the medical unit.
General Johnson made disclosure when a nine-man delegation of the Michigan National Guard recently paid a courtesy call on the high command of the AFL at the Ministry of National Defense at the Barclay Training Center (BTC) in Monrovia.
According to the Liberian Army Chief of Staff, the Michigan National Guard and the AFL has been in relations for the last ten years and the relationship has brought benefits to the men and women in arms.
He commended the Michigan National Guard on behalf of President and Commander-In-Chief of the AFL, President George Weah for its assistance to the Liberia army.
Maj. General Johnson recounted the many assistance from the Michigan National Guard to include the renovation of some assistance, including the renovation of infrastructures, the training of noncommissioned officers of the AFL and provide professional training to the medical unit.
He expressed the hope that the Michigan National Guard will assist the AFL in establishing the noncommissioned officers training school, in order to reduce the cost in sending non commission officers for training abroad.
Speaking earlier, the head of the Michigan National Guard delegation, Brigadier General Citrine White, said their mission is part of the state partnership program with the AFL.
According to her, the program involves the training of the manpower development of the AFL in the medical, training and construction sectors
She assured the AFL high command that the Michigan National Guard will work with Defense authority in setting up a noncommissioned officer training school in order for the Liberian army not to send non commission officers abroad for training.
Brig. Gen. White also assured the AFL high command that the Michigan National Guard will lobby for more assistance to the meet the human capacity development needs.
She thanked the AFL high command for inviting the Michigan National Guide to observe activities marking the 63rd anniversary of the Armed Forces Day.
