Mining Company In Marshall Wants Community Collaborate To Foster Peace And Development

Monrovia, Liberia- Authority of Camaco Sand mining company is urging members of the Clar Foundation Community along the Marshall highway to collaborate with the company to foster peace and development in the area.

According to Madam Alice Mulbah Reid, Camaco’s administrative manager, the company have employed several Liberians at its operations site in Marshall and Virginia who have the opportunity to make ends meet.

Camaco, a Liberian-Chinese sand mining company mine river sand along the Bo river along the Marshall highway in Margibi.

“We are willing to build hand pumps, modern toilet facilities and even road drainages for them but they must first collaborate with us, seeking and fostering peace and development as well as providing land for these things to be done”.

Madam Reid denied that her company is not adhering to the MoU as claimed by some people.

The Camaco Sand mining company official said her company has been paying the regular US$5 per truck as require by the Ministry of Mines and Energy and also in the MoU.

Speaking on pollution, Madam Reid told this news outlet: “Dust is a natural thing from God, we cannot control it but when the community leadership tell us about it, we can send our people to waste water and oil on the road.”

Because development is driven by Investment and peace, she said her company is working with the Marshall community residents to ensure all of its promises are fulfilled.

”We are even giving 50% discount to community members buying sand for construction purposes,” the Camaco Sand mining company added.

Recently, few members of the community were arrested following their protest action which led to roadblock, but they were released following appeal by the community chairperson, Tapple Doe.

 

Established in August of 2021, Camaco Sand mining company is owned by Wang Jiede who has 80% share and Moses D. Jackson with 20% share, according the company’s article of incorporation.

Records of the Ministry Mines and Energy show that Camaco obtained a class B license on June 30 of last year and it’s mining black river sand in Marshall.
