NIMBA, Liberia- Hundreds of aggrieved candidates for enumerators who sat for the Liberia Institute for Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LIGIS) aptitude test in Nimba County have threatened court action, due to LIGIS alleged failure to accept them.
The last census in Liberia was held in 2008. Since. LIGIS has said it would recruit 17,000 enumerators to conduct the 2022 census shortly. Weeks ago, LISGIS said interested persons, should apply online at www.census.lisgis.gov.lr.
The group through their leaders-Levi S.K. Luogon, Carsious Marty, Marian Z. Quoi and C. Sabara Gonkartee, II, the entire process was fraudulent thereby citing double appearances of names, shortlisting of individuals who didn’t sit for the test, misinformation as some of the fraudulent acts.
This is yet to be independently established.
The potential enumerators in Nimba have also threatened to stop all other training sessions across the county beginning Monday, October 17, 2022 until they are absorbed or else the entire process should be place on hold and return to status cord to avoid their court action.
The aggrieved candidates for enumerators noted that if nothing is done, Liberians should not expect any good results from the expected census something that will hinder the developmental and political growths of the country. If LIGIS cannot manage information of few recruits, then what becomes of over four million (4,000,000) people in the country, thereby referring to the entire process as waste of time and resources.
They are meanwhile, calling for the quick intervention of the Liberian Government the situation goes off hand. The group leaders spoke on local radio stations in the County over the weekend in the county.
