CAPITOL Hill, Monrovia -April 21, 2026–Montserrado County District #2 Representative Sekou Kanneh has denied expelled lawmaker Yekeh Y. Kolubah’s latest claims linking him to unveiling a concealed meeting between some lawmakers and President Joseph N. Boakai at the Executive Mansion recently.

Rep. Kanneh is a ruling Unity Party lawmaker who is Chairman of the House Committee on Executive.

The claim is that also included in the meeting was the Chief Justice Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay.

Addressing the press at the Capitol Building on Monday, April 20, 2026, Rep. Kanneh says his former colleague’s assertion regarding meeting with the President and the Chief Justice is untrue, and that at no time he has ever placed a call to Hon. Kolubah alerting him about any meeting as alleged by him.

He then challenged Kolubah to substantiate his claims, noting that the former lawmaker is someone who has always made spurious claims, which he, at most times, cannot prove.

The Montserrado County District #2 lawmaker divulged that the claim has no substance because he will not be a signatory to the document for his expulsion and at the same time calling him to furnish him with information.

“Hon. Kolubah is someone who has always made these kinds of claims that he cannot prove. He claimed that I called him. If I went in a meeting with the president along with the Chief Justice and I am one of those who signed the paper to have him expelled, then I will call him and tell him”, the Montserrado District #3 lawmaker asserted.

He added: “But indeed the burden of proof rests on the accuser. He needs to provide the call log. I thought not to dignify him, but because of the integrity of the judiciary and my own little integrity I have, I thought to make the clarity that at no time I called him”.

From January 19 to March 8, according to him, he was out of the country and has not met the Chief Justice, debunking that since the removal process, he has not spoken with Kolubah, nor has he been in the meeting with the President and the Chief Justice of Liberia.

He noted: “At no time that I spoke with him, at no time that I went in a meeting with the Chief Justice. I have been out of this place since the 19th of January and came 8th of March for personal reasons.

The Liberian lawmaker maintains that he will not accept to sign the resolution to oust Kolubah, and at the same, he will be feeding him with information. According to him, this alone exposes the hidden agenda behind his untrue claim, and even before his expulsion, he never really had a close proximity with the former lawmaker.

His clarification comes after the latest press conference held by former Representative Kolubah alleging that he received a call from Rep. Kanneh, and was informed that the Chief Justice of Liberia guided the body to deny receiving the writ from the Supreme Court so that they can remove him.
