Several years ago, almost all (25,000) of the candidates who sat the state-owned University of Liberia (UL) entrance and placement exam failed.
Well, the latest results of this year’s entrance exam has been released by the UL authorities which shows mass failure again.
“Out of the total twelve thousand five hundred sixteen (12,516) candidates who participated in the July 12 examinations, two thousand eight hundred seven (2,807 or 28.32%) candidates successfully passed. Conversely, nine thousand two hundred ninety-nine (9,299 or 74.30%) candidates were unsuccessful,” said a statement from the UL on Monday, August 18, 2025 during a press conference held by the President of the institution, Dr. Layli Mapanyan.

𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 & 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦 _ 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲
Registration Period:
The Center for Testing and Evaluation (CTE) at the University of Liberia commenced registration process for the Undergraduate Entrance Examination, as well as the Graduate and Professional Schools Aptitude Tests, on Monday, May 26, 2025, and concluded on Monday, June 15, 2025.
Exam Administration Period:
CTE-UL administered the Computer-Based Entrance Exam for undergraduate candidates from Tuesday, July 1, 2025, to Saturday, July 5, 2025. The Paper-based Examination for centers in Montserrado and Grand Cape Mount counties was conducted on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
Undergraduate Colleges:
A total of thirteen thousand, one hundred thirty (13,130) candidates registered for the entrance examination for Undergraduate Colleges. Six hundred fourteen (614 or 4.68%) candidates were absent. Twelve thousand, five hundred sixteen (12,516) candidates, or 95.32%, participated in the Examination.
Out of the total twelve thousand five hundred sixteen (12,516) candidates who participated in the July 12 examinations, two thousand eight hundred seven (2,807 or 28.32%) candidates successfully passed. Conversely, nine thousand two hundred ninety-nine (9,299 or 74.30%) candidates were unsuccessful.
Additionally, four hundred ten (410 or 3.28%) candidates shaded their assigned examination numbers incorrectly, resulting in their results being indeterminate.
Of the two thousand, eight hundred seven (2,807 or 28.32%) candidates who successfully passed the Entrance Examinations, one thousand, four hundred fifteen (1,415 or 50.41%) are females, whereas one thousand, three hundred ninety-two (1,392 or 49.59%) are males.
David A. Straz Snje Technical and Vocational College:
A total of two hundred twenty-one (221) candidates registered for the entrance examination for David A. Straz Technical and Vocational College in Sinje, Grand Cape Mount County. Thirty-three (33 or 14.93 %) candidates were absent. One hundred eighty-eight (188) candidates, or 85.07%, participated in the Examination.
Out of the total one hundred eighty-eight (188) candidates who participated in the July 12 examinations in Sinje, twenty-five (25 or 13.30%) candidates successfully passed. Conversely, eighty-five (85 or 45.21%) candidates were unsuccessful. Additionally, four (4 or 2.13%) candidates shaded their assigned examination numbers incorrectly, resulting in their results being indeterminate.
Additionally, nineteen candidates (about 10.11%) need to do extra work in Mathematics, while thirty-two candidates (roughly 17.02%) should join a remedial program in English. Moreover, twenty-three candidates (around 12.23%) are required to participate in remedial programs in both Mathematics and English to move forward to the regular program. We hope this shows the ongoing support available to help all students succeed.

The UL 2025 Entrance and Placement Exam results for the undergraduate colleges fall into five categories:
Successful:
*Candidates who achieved at least 60% in Mathematics and 70% in English are considered.
Unsuccessful:
* Candidates who scored below 60% in Mathematics or below 70% in English.
Absent:
* Candidates who registered for the University of Liberia entrance but couldn’t make it to the Entrance Examination are warmly acknowledged.
Wrongly Shaded:
* Candidates who incorrectly shaded their exam numbers during the exam.
- David A. Straz Sinje Technical and Vocational College
The UL 2025 Entrance and Placement Exam results for the Straz Sinje Technical and Vocational College fall into seven (7) categories:
Successful:
* Candidates who achieved at least 60% in Mathematics and 70% in English are considered.
Remedial In Mathematics:
* Candidates who achieved at least 30% in Mathematics and at least 70% in English but has a Mathematics score of less than 60% are considered.
Remedial In English:
* Candidates who achieved at least 40% in English and at least 60% in Mathematics but has an English score of less than 70% are considered.
𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻 𝗕𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵:
* Candidates who achieved at least 40% in English, but has an English score of less than 70% and achieved at least 30% in Mathematics but has a Mathematics score of less than 60% are considered.
𝗨𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹:
* Candidates who failed to meet any of the above four categories are considered unsuccessful.
𝗔𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁:
* Candidates who registered for the University of Liberia entrance but couldn’t make it to the Entrance Examination are warmly acknowledged.
