The Director-General of the National Food Assistance and Relief Agency (NFIAA), Borkai Sirleaf has called on well-meaning Liberians and philanthropic organizations to support the agency’s efforts to provide food assistance to vulnerable populations across the country.
Speaking DG Borkai Sirleaf made the appeal last Thursday at the Information Ministry’s Charles Gbenyon Press Hall in Monrovia, Director General Sirleaf said many families continue to struggle with food insecurity, leaving children uncertain about where their next meal will come from.
The NFIAA boss said addressing hunger should be a collective responsibility, emphasizing that everyone has a role to play in improving the lives of those in need. He noted that many Liberians continue to go to bed hungry and are unable to meet their most basic needs.
Sirleaf stressed that increased support from individuals, businesses, and humanitarian organizations would enable the agency to expand its programs and reach more communities facing economic hardship.
Meanwhile, the NFIAA Director-General disclosed that the agency has submitted two major projects to the government for consideration, including the “Agro Beach” initiative and the “Feed from Farm” program. He expressed optimism that the implementation of the projects would significantly improve food production and strengthen the country’s food security system.
The NFIAA Director General added that the proposed initiatives are intended not only to provide immediate relief to vulnerable citizens, but also to create sustainable solutions aimed at reducing hunger and improving livelihoods across Liberia.
