Flashback: Women protesting recently in Maryland County for alleged ritualistic killings

BARRABO, Liberia –What seems to be the resurfacing of ritualistic or “Boyo” activities’ in Maryland County have raised concern among residents in recent times, with the latest mysterious disappearance of a 50-year-old woman in Wloweien Town outside the southeastern city of Harper.

Months ago, a motorcyclist in Maryland’s second city, Pleebo went missing and his corpse was later discovered dead after reportedly being murdered for ritualistic purpose. Several persons have since been arrested and sent to court, with one of them confessing that the motorcyclist, who was a student of the Pleebo high school was victim of “Boyo” activities.

The disclosure about the missing woman was made recently by the Statutory Superintendent of Karluway District, Solomon Johnny, who said the woman went missing since September 4, 2021.

In an interview with Reporters in the county, Mr. Johnny also disclosed that woman is yet to be found, and four persons have now been arrested for allegedly being linked to the mysterious disappearance of the woman, as there is speculation that it has to do with ritualistic purpose, as Police in the area are currently conducting investigations into the situation.

“This is actually a sad situation here in Karluway, this lady left the town  and went out since the 4 of September we been looking for her but she is nowhere to be found, both men, women, children are on their feet every day and night looking for this woman,” Superintendent Johnny told journalists.

The local official also said that the mysterious disappearance of people in the Karluway district is becoming alarming.

Since 2018, a classroom teacher who mysteriously disappeared in the same district, has not been seen up till present and no information is known about his whereabouts.

In the Liberian capital, Monrovia and other parts of the county, there have been recent reports of a rise in in ritualistic activities, with several bodies being discovered with physical science that they were brutally murdered.
