(Monrovia, February 18, 2020)- The Press Union of Liberia is calling for an independent autopsy on the remains of OK FM Journalist Zenu Miller, a PUL press release said on Tuesday.
The Family of the late Zenu Miller has disclosed that their son died of hypertension (High Blood Pressure).
Mr. Forkpa Miller quoting the death certificate told the Press Union of Liberia hypertension (High Blood Pressure) was the cause of death.
The PUL believes that the autopsy will help to allay all contentions on the actual cause of death and end rumor mongering on the unfortunate death of true professional.
On announcement of the death of Journalist Zenu Miller, the PUL called for the public to remain calm as it was awaiting the death certificate of the journalist to inform its position.
With the cause of death now made public, the Press Union of Liberia insists that a proper impartial independent investigation in the flogging of Journalist Zenu Miller by Executive Protection Service, an elite VIP guard will help to repair reputational damage cause by few overzealous EPS Agents to the image of Liberia.
The Press Union of Liberia averred that the Miller Family information indicating hypertension (High Blood Pressure) as a cause of death presents more question than answers- it is the answers being sought that will establish culpabilities and punishment for the VIP guard service men who whipped the journalists.
It is important that the Presidency commission an inquest which will include the probing of the lackluster manner in which a PUL Complaint concerning the beating of Journalist Miller was handled by the EPS, the Union stressed.
The Press Union of Liberia letter of complaint of January 28, 2020 addressed to the Executive Protection Service has never been acknowledged which points to culpability for the ruthless actions of its men.
The PUL is demanding the Government of Liberia to take the position of the Union seriously by prioritizing the immediate conduct of a forensic investigation and an autopsy on the remains of Journalist Zenu Miller.
The Umbrella Organization of Journalists in Liberia is therefore calling on the public to remain calm as the PUL continues to engage the family and government for the conduct of the autopsy.
Meanwhile, the Press Union of Liberia is calling on the Liberia National Police to immediately release the investigative report involving the flogging of Journalist Christopher Walker.
The Case of Journalist Walker was transfer to the Professional Standard Division of the Liberia National Police for investigation following a PUL Communication to the Police and the EPS on the flogging of Journalist Walker and Miller.
