The long held claim that a man allegedly had sexual intercourse with a chief has been dismissed by a court in Liberia’s northwestern Lofa County.
Kolahun Magisterial Court recently dismissed charge against a 30 years old man identified Momo Kanneh who was charged with Cruelty Against Animal by the Liberia National Police.
Defendant Kanneh was allegedly caught having sexual intercourse with a pregnant Sheep in an unfinished building on January 11, 2020 in Massambolahun, Kolahun District.
This followed a Nulle Prosequa motion filed by Lofa County Attorney Luther Sumo, because the sheep has no lawyer to prosecute the matter and he is a state prosecutor for human being and not animals.
Besides, the court said sheep itself must testify in court but can understand when it is now a human being.
The charge was dropped against Defendant Kanneh in line Chapter 18, section 18.1 of the Criminal procedure law of Liberia.
Chapter 18, section 18.1 states
Chapter 18.DISMISSAL OF PROSECUTION by prosecuting Attorney.
The prosecuting attorney may by leave of court file a dismissal of an indictment or complaint or of a count contained therein as to either all or some of the defendants. The prosecution shall thereupon terminate to the extent indicated in the dismissal.
The County Attorney also said the Defendant is not in his right state of mind or in another word he is insane, even though there was no medical report presented to tell the metal illness of the Defendant. But he said from his observation, the defendant is not well up head.
The charge was dismissed against defendant Kanneh without prejudice to the state this month. Furthermore, the sheep has given to one baby.
In January this year, strange news broke out from Massambolahun, Lofa County said that a 30-year-old man and a former motorcyclist identified as Momo Kanneh had sexual intercourse with a female pregnant sheep.
When allegedly caught in the act, Defendant Kanneh admitted of committing having sexual intercourse with the animal, but said he was under the influence of drug and alcohol.
He was therefore arrested by the community watch forum and later turned over to the police for further investigation.
The sheep involved is owned by Musu Kanneh at his cattle ranch.
