CPP New Chair, Sen. Nyongblee Karngar-Lawrence Wants Standard Bearer Chosen In 2021

The Political leader of the Liberty Party, Senator Nyonblee Karngar-Lawrence has taken over the chairmanship of the Collaborating Political Parties from the standard bearer of the Alternative National Congress, Alexander Cummings.

Senator Karngar-Lawrence took over the CPP chairmanship at a well attended ceremony held at the ANC headquarters in Congo Town earlier this week.

Speaking during the ceremony, Senator Lawrence  called on the national executive committees of the four political parties  to do all they can to ensure that a standard bearer and vice standard are  presented on one ticket to the Liberian people  before the end of this year, 2021.

Senator Nyonblee Karngar –Lawrence said the Liberian people are anxiously awaiting for the United Party, Liberty Party, the All Liberian Party and the Alternative National Congress to provide an alternative leadership for the country in the 23 presidential and legislative elections.

Senator Karngar-Lawrence spoke when the LP formally took over the gavel of authority as Chairman of the CPP from the standard bearer of the ANC, Alexander Cummings in Monrovia Wednesday.

She said that she knows that the process will be tough but there are guidelines written in the document establishing the CPP

According to her, her chairmanship of the CPP is an indication that the collaboration will ensure that women will constitute thirty percent of women in elected and sensitive positions in the party

In presenting the logo and the constitution of the CPP, the outgoing Chairman of the CPP, Alexander Cummings , cautioned the national executive committee of the collaboration to ensure that provide an alternative leadership for the Liberian people.

According to him , the December 8th, 2020 senatorial elections have sent a clear message that the Liberian people are waiting for a new leadership that will provide good direction for the country.

Mr. Cummings pointed out that his administration was able to establish the local structure of the CPP in eight of the 15 sub political divisions in the country.

Also speaking at the ceremony, the ALP political leader, Benoni Urey, described the plan by the government to print about 37 billion Liberian dollars as the greatest challenge to democracy in Liberia.

“A few years ago,” he went on, “ the Ellen-led government  printed money on ground that the Liberian currency was mutilated ; but when the money was printed, the mutilated ones were never collected from the market.”

“We saw the children running all behind it when the breeze was blowing all over in Bentol, the Montserrado County capital and the money is still on the market.”

“We are hearing that the government is saying that she wants to print 37 billion Liberian Dollars on ground of changing the mutilated money ; but this is the greatest threat to the 2023 presidential and legislative elections in the country.”

The ALP leader appealed to CPP senators and representatives to be  very careful regarding the decision of the executive about the printing of the new money.

“We will be monitoring the you because any attempt to have this bill passed will be resisted because  it is not in the  interest of the Liberian people .

Mr. Urey thanked CPP supporters throughout the country for the support given the collaboration’s candidates in the 2020 senatorial elections .

For his part, former Vice President , Joseph Boakai, thanked the Liberian people who voted for the CPP candidates in the December 2020 senatorial elections because it is the process of redeeming Liberia.

“ This country will be liberated , our people will be celebrated and our people will see real life because Liberia is currently undergoing a disgrace and embarrassment.”

The former Vice President thanked the CPP youths for providing what he described as protection in order for members of the national executive committees of the parties to speak without fear.

The program was graced by large number of people including LP Chairman, Musa Bility; ANC Chairman , Senator Daniel Nateen, ALP Chairman ; Theodore Momoh, and Unity Party Chairman , Amin Mordad among others.

Others in attendance were the CPP Legislative Caucus , former legislative aspirants , sympathizers  and supporters
