-LDEA arrests two Nigerians in US$61,000 Cocaine scam

Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has stepped up its fight against the narcotic drugs trade in the country.

Just days ago, a former police officer was jailed at the Monrovia Central Prison on illicit drug charges.

Now, a Nigerian national, Friday Samuel Mbah has been arrested at the Roberts International Airport outside Monrovia by agents of the LDEA for allegedly smuggling over half kilos of raw cocaine into the country.

Mbah, currently being prepared for court prosecution swallowed the 23 tubes of raw cocaine valued over US$ 61, 100.

LDEA Director General, Anthony K. Souh disclosed that the suspect flew from Malawi on Kenya Airways with the harmful substance in his stomach.

Col. Souh said Mbah attempt to evade security arrest didn’t materialize because LDEA was acting on tipoff from its international partners.

“To his surprise he landed into our dragnet. He was expected here during the elections period, but he rescheduled his travel several times and delude us on several flights from the day we got the tipoff,” Souh noted.

“As it is commonly said “99 days for rogue one day for master” Mr. Mbah was finally napped on January 13, 2018,” Col. Souh disclosed.

According to the LDEA Boss, another suspect, Joseph Yeaboah alias Solomon, also a Nigerian based in Monrovia was also arrested in connection with the 23 tubes of raw cocaine.

Joseph Yeaboah was named by Mbah as his partner in Liberia and provided his numbers to LDEA agents, who lauded him (Joseph Yeaboah) to the airport.

He disclosed that both Mbah and Joseph Yeaboah will be forwarded to court.

He has meanwhile on behalf of the LDEA congratulated President-Elect George Weah and Vice President-Elect Senator Jewel Howard Taylor on their elections. Report by Alloycious David
