“Developmental Oriented President”-some Bong citizens brand Weah

GBARNGA, Liberia- Some citizens in the central Bong County are commending the government of President George Manneh Weah and his CDC government for for being a “developmental oriented President and unprecedented achievements” in less than two years since the founding of Liberia.

A report by NAYMOTE from a national survey research released in Monrovia over the weekend says most Liberians have rated the performance of the CDC government as poor and they “think the country is going or somehow going in the wrong direction.”

According to the sixth perception survey report assessing citizens’ perception of the quality of governance in Liberia for 2010 released over the weekend by Naymote Partners for Democratic Development, a leading civil society organization,“92% percent of respondents rated the performance of managing or handling the economy as very poor and poor, 6% said fair.”

But in separate interviews with this Reporter over the weekend in Gbarnga, some Bong County citizens said: “Some of us during the election in 2017 said that this man (George Weah) was going to make us proud at the presidency so that is why we are not surprise by the way our president is proceeding with the country.”

According to them, looking at the level of developments undertaken by this administration in this short period of time speech volume to the Liberian people the government commitment in transforming the livelihoods of the common people across the country.

Mr. David Nana Clarke, a resident of Botota in Bong stated: “All I want to tell the opposition community of this country is that they should leave this president to do the librarian people work in peace; so that this country can be compare to other African countries in the world like Ghana, Nigeria, Ivory coast amongst others in term of meaningful developments.”

“Let be real with the issues, we all know that our country is very challenge economically, that doesn’t mean that the president is not doing anything to solve the problems inherited from the past Unity Party led administration President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf,” Mr. Clarke added.

The citizens named the payment of all 9th and 12th graders WASSCE fees, the president preannouncement of free tuition for all government run Universities and Colleges across the country; the pavement farm to market of roads, the construction of the 14 Military hospital, the constructions of market building; reconciliations, freedom of speech, youth empowerments, among others as some significant developments undertaken by the CDC led government as commendable.

Another resident from Suakoko District, Abigail Mcgill said: “This government took over a broken economy where money was brought into the country without the consent of the 53th National Legislature, the UNMIL peacekeeping mission in Liberia were no more in the country, meaning providing security for the state is now government responsibility. So president Weah being a humanitarian leader continues to create the enabling environments so as to enable citizens become independent in society.”

“You were in government for the past twelve years, some of you six, eight, ten and years and you failed to better the lives of your people and you want to incite the people of this country to go against their leader they stood in the rain and sun to get him elected to the presidency, I think you are getting it wrong,” Madam Mcgill added.

She said, “if you claimed that you’re in the opposition block and you love your country and says you surely love your people the best way to do it’s by creating them jobs, providing them scholarships both local, national and internationally, opening agriculture farms across the country where people citizens can go and work to earn their living. But opposition in this country all they can do is to preach hit messages to citizens about their leaders,” Madam Mcgill stated.

In conclusion, the citizens claimed that the Liberian leader was making efforts in ensuring the cries of the common people are addressed, especially the establishment of the war and economic crime court in the country.

“This president will succeed and he will be mark as Liberia best developmental, humanitarian and god fearing leader in the history of this country.”
