ECOWAS denies that Pres. Weah said Jewel & Ellen aiding June 7 protest organizers

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has denied reports in some local media that Liberian President George Weah had told the visiting President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Jean Claude Kassi Brou that both Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor and former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf were quietly aiding the organizers of the planned June 7 protest against the CDC government.

A statement issued in Monrovia by the office of the Special Representative of the President of the ECOWAS Commission in Liberia, Ambassador Babatunde Ajisomo describes the media reports as “most unfortunate and indeed worrisome.”
