Falling Tree Kills 62-Year-Old Man In Grand Kru County, Liberia

Reports from Buah District in Liberia’s southeastern Grand Kru County say  62-year-old man  identified as Henry Jarka  has died, after a tree fell on him.

The tragic accident happened in Chewriken, Buah Statutory District on Thursday Morning, March 26 over 600 kilometers from Monrovia.

Eyewitnesses told this news outlet via mobile phone, that Jarka was cutting a tree behind his house in the town, when it suddenly fell on him.

Mr. Jarka was reportedly later pronounced dead and the Liberia National Police authorities later confirmed his death.

The remains was later turned over to family members to be given befiting burial. But they have been urged by the police to observe the health protocols in line with government’s measures to stop the spread of the Coronavirus.

Family members described old man Jarka as loving, affable and down to earth, who brought joy to the community every time there were community programs.

Many are still shock about his sudden demise and the circumstances under which it happened.
