In Sinoe: Man, 30, Alledgely Commits Suicide, After Girlfriend Refused Him Sex

Reports from Kabada, Kpenyen District, Sinoe County say a man believed to be in his 30s identified as David Yoyo has allegedly committed suicide, after his girlfriend Hawa Massalay, age 36 refused to give him sex.

The man is said to have hanged himself in his bedroom last Sunday, May 31, 2021, but Police in the area are conducting further investigation.

At about 8pm, when Hawa Massalay came from bathing and went in her mother’s room to cream herself and dress up, the deceased entered the bedroom demanding to have sex with her. But she refused on grounds that it will be a disrespect to have sex in her mother’s bedroom.

Her mother is said to be away spending time and once her mother is not home she most often takes care of her mother’s room until she returns.

The report said after Hawa told David that it would be a disrespect to her mother by having sexual in her bedroom, the deceased (David) allegedly slapped her and held her by her hair, thus making her weak and causing her to shout for help. Some community members rushed to the scene and parted them.

After they were parted, Hawa left the house. She later returned about 11pm GMT and went to their own room and met the door locked. She endlessly knocked the door but there was no response.

According to her, she thought that David had brought another girlfriend in their room, so she forced the door opened and saw the deceased hanging from the ceiling by a rope.

The deceased allegedly used a black tiny rope and stood over a mortal to hang himself to her surprise.

She then yelled calling for help, after which some men came rushed to the scene but it was too later and he had given up the ghost. Police came in and health personnel later pronounced him dead. His body was examined and health workers said that there was no foul played.

Victim David Yoyo reportedly hailed from Grand Bassa but went to work in Sinoe County.

His family was immediately contacted. They have family have instructed some of his friends to take his body to Buchanan for burial.

Meanwhile, the girlfriend Hawa Massalay and those who responded to the alarm she made have been invited by the Liberia National Police for questioning. By Garmah Never Lomo, garmahlomo@gmail.com
