Just recently, a man convicted of trafficking narcotic drugs was sentenced to 15 years in jail after he was arrested and forwarded to court in Margibi County by the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), while dozens of other suspects are currently in custody awaiting court trial for drugs related offense. In recent times, the new LDEA high command has left no stone unturned in the fight against narcotic drugs trafficking, sale and abuse in the country.
From the capital, Monrovia to rural counties, there is no let-up in the LDEA’s anti-drugs fight in this West African country.
In one of its latest raids, the LDEA arrested a 47-year-old Nigerian man, Uche Kkojie for allegedly being involved in the possession of cocaine and heroin worth well over US$16,000 in Pleebo City, Maryland County.
LDEA made the disclosure recently in a press release published on its official Facebook page.

LDEA Maryland County Detachment Arrests 47-Year-Old Nigerian with Narcotics worth LRD 3,152,860.
Monrovia, Liberia, February 1, 2026– The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), Maryland County Detachment, on Friday, January 30, 2026, at about 2:00 p.m., during a routine patrol in Pleebo City, apprehended suspect Uche Okojis, a 47-year-old Nigerian national and resident of Pleebo City.
The suspect was found in possession of 97.7g of mixed heroin, 86.5g of raw heroin, 39.0g of raw cocaine, 67.2g of precursor substances, and one parcel of marijuana, with an estimated street value of US$16,594 and LRD 3,152,860.
Suspect Okojis is currently undergoing investigation and will be forwarded to the Pleebo City Magisterial Court for prosecution, for possession of a narcotic substance, a non-bailable offense under Liberian law.
