Monrovia – Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, has been announced as the Baccalaureate Speaker for the 21st Commencement Convocation of United Methodist University (UMU).

According to the university administration, Minister Nyanti will deliver the Baccalaureate message during the Baccalaureate Service scheduled for March 29 at the First United Methodist Church in Monrovia beginning at 2PM. The service forms a significant spiritual component of the graduation activities, bringing together graduating students, faculty, families, and members of the clergy for a moment of reflection, thanksgiving, and dedication.

University officials noted that the selection of Liberia’s top diplomat reflects UMU’s ongoing effort to expose its students to national leadership and inspire them to play meaningful roles in the country’s growth and transformation.

The Baccalaureate Service, traditionally marked by prayers, hymns, and exhortations, is expected to set the tone for the university’s 21st Commencement Convocation.

As Foreign Minister, Nyanti has been instrumental in strengthening Liberia’s diplomatic ties and enhancing the country’s presence on the global stage. Her address is expected to center on leadership, service, integrity, and the responsibility of young graduates to contribute positively to national development.

The 21st Commencement Convocation, slated for March 31, 2026, is expected to see more than 600 students graduate in various academic disciplines. The university has emphasized that this year’s graduation activities will highlight core values such as discipline, excellence, and ethical leadership.

Meanwhile, members of the graduating class have expressed anticipation and excitement over the upcoming events, particularly the opportunity to hear from a prominent national figure. Many believe Minister Nyanti’s message will provide encouragement as they prepare to transition from academic life into professional careers.

The Baccalaureate Service is expected to be one of the major highlights of the convocation, offering both spiritual guidance and inspiration to the graduates as they embark on a new chapter of their lives.
