After the disclosure that Zaire Ebola was found in bat in Liberia’s northeastern Nimba County, the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) has called on citizens to be calm, as there is no Ebola in any human being in the country.
On Thursday, January 24, 2019, NPHIL and the Ministry of Health said the discovery was as a result of a “proactive research by the Liberian government to determine the cause of the unprecedented Ebola outbreak between 2014-2016.”
Addressing a news conference at the Ministry of Information, the
Director General Tolbert Nyenswah said there is no cause for worry about any outbreak of the deadly virus among the human population.
Mr. Nyenswah assured that Liberia’s infectious disease surveillance, prevention and control system is 200% fit, urging the public to remain calm. as there is no Ebola outbreak in the country.
The NPHIL Director General however urged the population to maintain the usual hygiene precaution by washing their hands with soap and water regularly.
