Liberian Senate Rejects Weah’s Defense Nominee Who Threatened To “Kill”

The threat he made in a Facebook video last year to “kill” anyone who destroy his hard earned property is haunting the man nominated by President George Manneh Weah as Deputy Defense Minister for Operations, Tarplah Davis AKA “Zoely Zoe” as the Liberian Senate has voted him unfit for the post.

His rejection was done on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 by majority vote.

“After carefully reviewing the CV of the nominee, the Committee came to a conclusion that he doesn’t have what it takes to move the Army forward and recommend that his confirmation for the position of Deputy Minister for Operations be rejected.”

Even months after his outrageous assertion on the Social Media when facing the Senate confirmation hearing recently, Mr. Davis, a former soldier in the US military, showed no remorse for his threat to kill.

That threat sparked widespread reactions both at home and among some Liberians in the diaspora, something that even triggered serious concerns among Senators.
