LIBERIAN SPORTS: Lawrence Paigar’s Brace Extends NPA ANCHORS Lead In The Orange League

The chase for domestic silverware in the Orange National League-2nd Division and promotion to the top-tier in the Orange National League 1st  Division continues, with several matches played across the country.

At the football arena in Margibi County, the opened-air Nancy B.Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata,  on  Saturday 12 November, Jack Freeman  and Lawrence Paigar’s brace sealed an away win for the Port Boys of NPA ANCHORS over MARGIBI FC.

Jack Freeman got on the score sheet in the 27′ minute of the first half from the penalty spot after center referee Jeremiah Suah blew for a penalty from a reckless foul from Abel Bedell in the 18-yard box.

But minutes after the visitors got on the score sheet, Margibi FC talisman Wurie Barry gave an assist from a beautiful play to Chris Amodiaquen Kollie to level the score 1-1 in the 35th minute.

With still much time to end the first half break, the visitors (NPA ANCHORS FC) took the lead for the second time in the first half through Lawrence Paigar to give his team a 2- 1away halftime win over MARGIBI FC.

Back from the break, the home team MARGIBI FC put out several chances but couldn’t get on the scoresheet due to good defending from the back four of NPA ANCHORS FC.  And with much fireworks from the away team to gain top spot on the league table, Lawrence Paigar registered his second goal from a stunning placement to in the 75th minute to give his team, NPA ANCHORS FC a convincing 3-1 away over MARGIBI FC.

The win for NPA ANCHORS FC give the team a seven points lead over second place PAGS FC while the defeat for MARGIBI FC drops the team to fifth place on the table and marks the second defeat at home this season.  Margibi FC suffers the first defeat to Blackman Warrior on 1 October. The win for Blackman Warrior against Margibi FC marks the team first win in the competition. The Margibi County outfit club Margibi FC has now suffered three defeats so far this season with two at home and one away.

Margibi FC first defeat was an away fixture to Tewor FC on 10 September in Grand Cape Mount County.  The club next match is against it nearest neighbor Tony FC in an away fixture at the ATS on 18 November and final match to end the first phase is at home to Gardnerville FC on 26 November.   Margibi FC will move on top ahead of second- place PAGS FC and third-place Global Pharma FC if they get all 6 points from the remaining fixtures to end the first phase on the league table.  NPA ANCHORS now sits on the league table with 34 points from 13 games played thus far.

The Buchanan Port Manager Civicus Barsi-Giah Boys NPA Anchors Anchors has recorded 11 win, 1 draw and a single defeat.  The green and white outfit Boys NPA ANCHORS FC is hoping to extend the lead on top of the league table if the team get a win in the last two fixtures to end the first phase.

A draw or defeat along the way may also reduce the gap depending on the results from second place PAGS FC and huge spending club Global Pharma FC.  The league continues on Saturday, 18 November with several matches across the country.
