Several Liberians, who purchased tickets for the Liberia Crusaders for Peace (LCP) raffle under the theme ‘Prevenient Grace Raffle Draw’, were proud winners in its final raffle draw on December 24, 2020, receiving valuable prizes amidst the festive seasons.
The Executive Director of the LCP, Ms. Julie Endee presented the prizes to deserved winners at a transparent raffle draw conducted by the National Lottery Authority (NLA) at the LCP headquarters on Capitol Bye-pass in central Monrovia.
She said the draw is being held on Christmas Eve as a manifestation of the peace existing in the country and hope that Liberians from all walks of Life will embrace and continue to cultivate peace during and after the festive season.
The raffle draw was held in two categories, with category-one featuring four prizes including a 50-inch Flat Screen Television, a Chester Freezer, one 18,000 BTU Air Conditioner and one Bed Set. The second category which was the Grand prize was a Ford Figo 2018 model brand new vehicle.
The 50-inch Flat Screen Television was won by Miss Etta Seton of Brewerville City outside Monrovia and the Chester Freezer was won by a teenager, Kennedy Reeves who later brought his father to take delivery of the prize while the 18,000 BTU Air Conditioner was won by Mr. Josiah Sumo of Harbel, Margibi Country.
The winner of the Grand Prize, the Ford Figo 2018, model was absent during the draw but organizers of the raffle have promised to post the winning number at the LCP’s headquarters and urged the winner to identify him/her self and take delivery of the vehicle.
Giving a brief background of the raffle, Madam Juli Endee explained that the raffle was initiated on March 10, 2019 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia. She narrated that the first draw was held March 16, 2019 at which time people won prizes including Macro-waves, a Generator and a Motorbike. She said the highest prize during that draw was a Motorbike and that it was won by a female resident of West Point Township in Monrovia.
The second draw according to her was held July 20, 2019 and lucky winners walked away with a HP-Laptop and a Motorbike. “On October 24, 2019, the third draw was held and people won coat-wear comprising accessories pieces, a gas cooker, a sewing machine and a home Theater,” said Amb. Endee.
Following the suspension of the draw because of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, it resumes on October 24, 2020 at which time rice cooker, children toys, home theater and a motorbike were among prizes won by lucky winners; while in November 2020, a glass table, sewing machine, refrigerator, home theater, Flat Screen Television 32-inch and a tri-cycle were all won, She disclosed.
The December 24, 2020 final raffle draw which was interspersed with spontaneous questions posed to on-lookers gracing the occasion as a yardstick to win gifts including cash, T-shirts. Caps and 25kg bags of rice also included a dancing competition for the same gifts.
