Monrovia – The Director General of the Liberia News Agency (LINA), Trokon A. Tarr has reaffirmed the government’s commitment on the protection and promotion of the passage of the Freedom of Information Act. 2010, describing the 16th Anniversary Celebration a milestone achievement for Liberians.
The LINA boss was speaking on behalf of the Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Information, Johnny Tarkpah at a special statement for the opening ceremony on the 16th Anniversary Celebration at the Charles Gbenyon Press Hall in the Ministry of Information, on September 16, 2026,
Director Tarr extends a profound gratitude on behalf of Deputy Minister Tarkpah to all civil society organizations and other partners for this historic and significant milestone in maintaining and promoting the Act that allows the public to understand and get information in accordance with the Organic Laws of Liberia and other provisional laws.

The LINA Director cautioned institutions and entities heads to remain steadfast in promoting and maintaining the FOI Act., urging them to always demonstrate professionalism in providing information to the public, adding that this is an obligation to all.
He said the public should share information accurately in accordance with laws that would continue to build integrity and projects democratic governance.
“Today, we gather to mark a significant milestone in the journey towards transparency, accountability, and the advancement of the right to information. The anniversary is not just a celebration of the years that have passed, but a statement to the government shared commitment to fostering an open society,” Tarr said.
He emphasized that the Liberian government remains unbending to the protection and promotion of the Freedom of Information Act. 2010 and will ensure that everyone in Liberia’s 15 political sub-divisions will have access to information to ensure nation building.
