LOCAL SPORTS: Ralph Weah’s Lone Goal Gives Christ United Football Academy First Trophy

Lower division football clubs in Monrovia have been facing one another in a tournament surrounding the celebrations of Liberia’s 174th Independence anniversary under the auspices of a Christian organization. Christian Aid.

The tournament was played at the Duan Sports Pitch in Barnesville Estate.

Christ United Football Academy (CUFA) won a narrow 1-0 win over Preston Football Academy in the grand finals.

Ralph Weah 60th minute goal in the second half was enough to secure CUFA the first ever trophy since its establishment.

The 12-year old kid Weah was instrumental in his side success after scoring in the opening fixture, with Best Football Academy in his club 1-0 win and also a narrow 1-0 win over Mitch United Football Academy in the semi-finals.

Weah won man of the match in two games and was voted the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Christian Aid Independence Day Tournament.

Weah, alias  “Pulici”, netted his first hat-trick for his club  in CUFA  comfortable 5-1 win over Mitch United Football Academy in on 23 July in an exhibition  match of the Barnesville Estate UEFA Champions League at the zenith football house of Barnesville the Barnesville Estate Sports Pitch.

Christ United Football Academy (CUFA) walked away with LD 5,000.00 along with a trophy as winner.

Champions  Christ United Football Academy (CUFA), Seven Pro Football Academy,Mitch United Football AcaEztated demy,Best Football Academy and runner-up Preston Football Academy particapted in the tournament.
