A wave of homicide cases are taking place around Liberia,with the latest being the cold murder of a man in Liberia’s northeastern Nimba County.
A man identified as George Nap has allegedly been brutally murdered by an unknown criminals at the Free Pentecostal Church Compound in Yekepa Area ‘’P’’ Community several miles from the provincial capital Sanniquellie.
Yekepa is in the mountain region where the country’s largest iron ore company, Mittal Steel operates.
Mr. Nap was believed to be in his late 50s. He met his untimely death on Sunday Night while serving guard on the property of the Free Pentecostal Church in Yekepa.
The victim’s body was seen in a pool of blood at the compound of the church on Monday morning July 2, 2018.
According to a report by the Liberia National Police Nimba Detachment Crime services unit, Mr. Nap was suspected of having many wounds on his neck and other parts of his body.
Similar gruesome murder took place in Liberia’s northwestern Lofa County recently, with a young woman in her 20s being beheaded, while in the Monrovia suburb of Caldwell an elderly woman was slaughtered allegedly by a young man who is now in police custody.
The Crime Report says the victim has been serving as a private security and also a deacon at the Free Pentecostal Church for over ten years.
According to the report, the unknown criminals used shape objects on the neck and face of the man.
The gruesome murder of Mr. Nap has raised a serious security concerns although no arrest has been made so far, according to the report.
The Nimba County Police Crime Services Department report maintains that after Mr. Nap was killed by the unknown criminals while serving guard, the property of the Free Pentecostal church remained untouched.
However, police in the area are admonishing citizens to be on the alert as criminal activities have sharply increased in the county in recent times.
The reports further indicated that the criminal activities, especially murder cases in June were alarming.
‘’On June 19 and 30 2018, two men were brutally killed in Ganta around the Catholic Community and Gbartu Quarter by lawless citizens,’’ the Nimba County Police crime services report added.
