HARPER, Liberia- During the evening Hours of Thursday April 23, 2020, a canoe arrived at Old kru Town Harper  Fishing Pier from neighbouring Ivorian Town of  Tabou, with two Men and the lifeless body of a man.

This area is some 635 kilometers from Monrovia and cross-border and internal movements are being restricted, in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic.

In conversation with www.newspublictrust.com, two men, Stephen Nimely and Francis Toe who were both seen in the Canoe when it arrived with the corpse, said  body man got sick recently and it was taken to a Hospital in Tabou for treatment.

The man only identified as Boniface is said to be a resident of the Ivorian Town of Tabou.

The late Boniface was bewitched (poisoned in Food), so they decided to bring him to Harper, Maryland County where his Family reside, they claimed.

They lamented that while on the sea entering Harper Old kru Town Fishing Pier their Friend passed prior to their arrival.

“We were about to enter Old Kru Town in Harper when he died on top of the Ocean so we decided to fine his family people who lives here in Harper for them to take delivery of the late brother body,“ the men explained.

Old Kru Town is one of the densely populated communities in Harper City and it is the biggest Fishing community in the entire County and it has over five thousand inhabitants.

Citizens and residents of the Old Kru Town Fishing community were dissatisfied and uncomfortable about the situation, so they immediately called to the Maryland County Local Authority for intervention.

Speaking to this Reporter, the residents suggested that both Stephen Nimely and  Francis Toe be quarantined  and observed by  the Maryland County Health  Team.

“We want our County Authority and the Maryland County Health Team to works in hands and quarantine these two Gentlemen that arrived with the dead body, we don’t know if he die from the Coronavirus pandemic and Gentlemen that came with him may not know our safety is very important to us,” the locals said.

It is not clear what actually killed Boniface and suspicions reign in this part of Liberia amid the rising number of Coronavirus cases in the country.

Old Kru Town is one of the major entry points in Maryland County and Liberia.

Recently, three Ivorian nationals were intercepted by Concern Citizens and were turned over to the Maryland County Health Team for screening and quarantine.
