TEMPLE OF JUSTICE, Monrovia- Legal tensions continue to mount at the Criminal Court “A”, as prosecutors filed its second Bill of Information to remove a juror from jury panel alleged of associating with the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) in the ongoing Capitol Building arson case involving former House Speaker J. Fonati Kofa (CDC) and several others.
The Court, presided over by Judge Roosevelt Z. Willie, has scheduled Tuesday December 2,20205 to hear prosecution latest Bill of Information.
The new bill of information targets Juror J30-9550, identified as Antoinette Mulbah, whom prosecutors claims holds a leadership role within the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) as chairlady of District 13, Montserrado County. Prosecutors argued her alleged political ties pose a risk to jury impartiality.
Pattern of Challenges
This is the third attempt by prosecutors to remove a juror.
Juror Delbeat Miatonia was previously disqualified following a court-ordered investigation.
Another motion sought the removal of Juror J309796, whom prosecutors accused of campaigning for defendant Abu Kamara.
However, Judge Willie rejected that application on November 26, 2025, citing a lack of credible evidence.
The Court ruled that, No witness authenticated the photographs presented the images could not be linked to the juror. The juror denied appearing in the photos but claimed that it was her mother on the photo seen in her phone.
Finding no proof of bias under the New Jury Law, the Court refused to strike the juror from the panel.
Defense Pushes Back
Defense lawyers, including Cllr. Wilkins Michael Wright, accused the prosecution of attempting to “dismantle the entire selected jury.” They argued that the repeated challenges reflect a broader effort to delay or destabilize the trial.
Following their request, Judge Willie granted the defense their request for continuance to Tuesday December 2,20205 @9am to respond to prosecution Bill of information to remove the jury named above. The parties are expected to reconvene on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.
Court to Decide on Third Juror
The upcoming hearing will determine whether the prosecution has established sufficient grounds/ evidence to remove Juror Mulbah. The decision could significantly influence the composition of the jury in a case that has already seen heightened political attention and repeated disputes over impartiality.
