NEC Declares MDR’s Candidate Kwagrue Sehwongbay Winner Of Nimba County District #5 By-Election

The candidate representing the late Sen. Prince Y. Johnson’s party, Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR), Mr. Kwagrue Sehwongbay has won the Nimba County District #5 By-election held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Mr. Sehwongbay was declared winner by the Chairman of the National Elections Commission (NEC), Madam Davidetta Browne-Lansana yesterday, Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

The MDR candidate defeated a long list of candidates from President Joseph Boakaii’s ruling Unity Party and the main opposition CDC party of former President George Manneh Weah.

The long list of candidate included:
