As Residents Honour The Nigerian Envoy And Give Her A Traditional Kru Name, Decontee

The Nigerian Ambassador accredited near Monrovia has paid an official visit to the Municipal Borough of New Kru Town on the Bushrod Island in an effort to familiarize herself with the activities and challenges there, as Augustine Octavius reports.

Speaking during a program welcoming her in the borough, Ambassador Ramat Mohamed thanked the people of New Kru Town for giving her the opportunity to exploring the development and challenges in the region.

The Nigerian envoy commended Governor Teah for extending an invitation to visit the Borough of New kru Town and Reception given her and her entourage by the people.

She said Liberia and Nigeria have enjoyed cordial and mutual relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations between West African countries more than 60 years ago.

According to her, Liberia and Nigeria consider each other as strategic partners in regional and global affairs and have enjoyed diplomatic relations across economic, political, cultural and social affairs mostly in the area of peace and security.

Ambassador Mohamed noted that Nigeria was very instrumental in ending the long civil wars in Liberia and the fact that Nigerians are highly welcome to stay and do business in Liberia attest to the worm relations

She commended Nigerians in Liberia for being law abiding and cautioned them to remain as such in order to develop themselves along with their Liberian partners.

Speaking earlier, the Governor of the Borough of New Kru Town, Robert Teah, presented a three-year development plan of the borough to Ambassador Mohamed for assistance.

According to Governor Teah, the borough is challenged when it comes to logistics in the collection and disposal of garbage, flooding during the raining season and expressed interest of visiting the Federal Republic of Nigeria in order to establish relations with governors of states in order to share experiences interim of development.

During the welcoming ceremony, Ambassador Mohamed was honored, gowned and gave her a traditional Kru name, Decontee by the women of the Borough of New Kru Town.
