The acrimony within the constituent parties of the opposition CPP continues unabated, with war of words continuing within parties, between parties and amongst members.
There is no let-up in the rift between and amongst Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence’s Liberty Party, former VP Joe Boakai’s Unity Party, Benoni Urey’s All Liberian Party and Alexander Cummings’ Alternative National Congress.
Ex-VP Baoakai, who is current Chairman of the CPP along with LP’s Political leader Sen. Karnga-Lawrence are still insisting that the ANC’s leader Cummings should take responsibility for the alleged tampering of the CPP framework document.
The deepening rift in the CPP stems from rival support for Cummings and Boakai’s bids for the Standard-bearer post of the Collaboration towards the upcoming 2023 presidential election in Liberia. There is split over Urey and Sen. Karnga’s Lawrence’s support for Boakai, while Bility and other Liberty Party officials and supporters are backing Cummings.
ANC’s Secretary General Aloysius Toe has issued a statement terming a press release from a group, “CONCERNED ANCers” AS FAKE.
Below is the ANC’s Secretary General’s statement issued on Monday, November 8, 2021:
“Monrovia, Liberia- The attention of the ANC has been drawn to a press release circulating on social media, purporting to come from “concerned partisans of the Alternative National Congress.”
The ANC wishes to categorically state that the release is FAKE, and did not originate from any member or organ of the ANC.
The ANC strongly rejects the false allegations against Musa Bility, the National Chairman of the Liberty – a constituent party of the CPP. The ANC reiterates and restates that we have no concerns, whatsoever, with our association with Musa Bility.
The ANC believes that the fake release to discredit Musa Bility is a new design by the same detractors who failed in their attempt to discredit Alexander Cummings with Framework Document alteration and tempering.”
