One Person Dies In Honey-Bees Attack In Liberia’s Cape Mount County

Reports from Tewor District in Liberia’s western Grand Cape Mount County say a man in his late 70s identified as Abel B. Kromah has died, after honey bees descended upon him.

The incident happened in Jenewonde, Mendemassa clan last Sunday, October 25, 2020.

Mr. Kromah is said to have died in Monrovia, after being rushed for further medical treatment due to the severity of his injury from the bees attack.

According to the reports, the honey bees, which were in a rice kitchen,  belong to an Iman whose family are also aware about the presence of the inset but didn’t alert the community dwellers.

Some children of the community threw stones at the kitchen, which led swarm of bees going out of control and attacking the residents, leaving three persons were severely injured into including Mr. Kromah.

After the honey bees went out of total control, youths of the community used Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from a nearby clinic and a spray gun to rescue the town from the honey bees attack.

It is now known that the honey bees attack on residents started from 11am up to 2pm when some youth of the town restore calm in the town.

A honey bee is a eusocial flying insect within the genus Apis of the bee clade, all native to Eurasia but spread to four other continents by human beings, according to Wikipedia..
