As a Journalist in recent decades, I can’t vividly recall since this nation, Liberia rejoined the comity of Nations after its brutal past with words of conciliation. It’s conciliation which puts the vast interests of the voting population as their focus in most public utterances!

To my utmost surprise, since assuming office, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s utterances go into the direction of the vulnerable voters whose fate often hangs in the balance with political party’s priorities’ superseding the interests of the vast majority of the voting populace!

Interestingly, I capture two of such people driven utterances in his public addresses including his recent Cabinet meeting in Bomi and that of the Unity Party homecoming fundraising at their just acquired headquarters!

“The badges you got is not for hunting innocent people,” and “We were elected, to provide good roads, better health systems, better school system”.

These were the words of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai when he spoke at the December 6, 2025 UP homecoming and fund-raising program held in Congo Town, Monrovia.

Judging by what President Boakai said, it brings to my mind the realization that our national leadership today thinking in the direction of voter, who painstakingly stood in long queues to vote.

From all frankness, I have not heard such comments from political party’s leadership when they assume power as compared to making these deceptive statements when they want the votes of the vulnerable voters prior to political contestation in contemporary Liberia!

Liberians have been misused by these political vampires who come in disguise to the detriments of the poverty-stricken masses, as living evidence is visible.

There is a Chinese proverb that says development begins with roads, roads and roads as has been the watchword of President Boakai, even before his ascendency to the Liberian Presidency!

Trust me, when priorities are given to these fundamental aspects of the survival of the Liberia Society, including better cross country’s highways, farms to markets roads, availability of drugs in government-run clinics and hospitals around the Country, including the John F. Kennedy teaching hospital Jackson F. Doe hospital, Teleweyon hospital, J.J. Duzoen hospital. Also, one thinks about better incentives for school teachers and nurse’s the people will definitely appreciate their leadership in every way possible!

If Liberian themselves can learn to put down so-called political garments after a given elections time and learn to hold their leadership to their promises as indicated by President Boakai when he informed Liberians that these were the cardinal reasons they as a political party were elected to provide for the betterment of the Liberia people.

We as a people, will appreciate political parties that will gain our confidence, and not getting state power and their political parties taking center stage, with the interests and well-being of the Liberian people being relegated to the drainages for the six-year tenure.

My people, let us uphold the organic laws of Liberia– the Constitution, which says, “All power is inherent in the people…”!
