The October 10, 2023 elections campaign team of Alexandar Cummings’ CPP has suffered a major blow, just two months to the presidential and legislative elections, with the death of the ANC Chairman and Gbarpolu Senator, Daniel F. Naatehn, Sr.

CPP confirmed his passing today, Tuesday, August 8, 2023 in a statement released a short while ago.

Naatehn was himself a candidate who was on a re-election bid for Senator of Liberia’s northwestern Gbarpolu County.

The fallen CPP Chairman is the second legislative candidate in the pending October 10 polls to die in recent weeks.

The first was Grand Bassa County District #1 incumbent Representative Hans Barchue who died recently before having the opportunity to defend his seat.

CPP ANNOUNCES THE DEATH OF ANC NATIONAL CHAIRMAN & GBARPOLU SENATOR, DANIEL F. NAATEHN

SENATOR DANIEL F. NAATEHN HAS DEPARTED THIS LIFE

Monrovia, Liberia, August 8, 2023. With great sadness and deep regrets, the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) announces the demise of the National Chairman of the Alternative National Congress (ANC) and Gbarpolu County Senator, Daniel F. Naatehn Sr.

Chairman Naatehn, as he was affectionately called, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, in India, where he had gone to undergo medical treatment, following a brief illness.

The CPP National Chairman, Musah Hassan Bility has, meanwhile, placed a 48-hour moratorium on all CPP political activities, nationwide, in memory of this great fallen hero- ANC National Chairman and CPP Vice Chairman.

Chairman Naatehn joined the Alternative National Congress in 2014 where he was elected Senator, and in 2019, he was elected National Chairman.

As a sign of respect to the ANC/CPP fallen hero, Chairman Bility has directed that the CPP flag, and flags of CPP constituent parties, be flown at half mast at its National Headquarters as well as all political offices, nationwide.

The public will be informed of all further arrangements concerning the return of Chairman Naatehn’s body to Liberia and subsequent planning around his interment.

Meanwhile, CPP Standard Bearer, Alexander Cummings, and Vice Standard Bearer, Cllr. Charlyne Brumskine, have expressed profound sadness about the passing of Senator Naatehn, and have extended their condolences to the Naatehn’s family for a loss so overwhelming.
