-Management dedicates Award to Corps of Committed Reporters and thousands of Fans
Liberia’s newest Online news outlet, www.newspublictrust.com, owned and operated by the Public Trust Media Group (PTMG), first appeared online in the wake of the 2017 Presidential Presidential and Representatives elections in Liberia, has won the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) Best Online Newspaper of the year 2018/2019.
This independent news outlet was among a number of other individual Journalists and media houses were honoured last Friday evening (August9, 2019) at the Paynesville City Hall outside Monrovia for demonstrating professional excellence in various categories for the past year.
Public Trust Media Group “is dedicated to promoting responsible, open and frank exchange of ideas–to agree to disagree, through dialogue and not antagonism with malice to no one. Although no business can survive without profit, profit for PTMG is not our exclusive concern; granted that to adequately serve the public interest, we must be able to break even. However in so doing, we shall not negate our public service and loose the public trust principally for profit motive. Ours is an entity that sees itself as a private creature with a public heart. Our success shall not only be measured by the thickness of our balance sheet, but also by the height and depth of the public trust that is measured through the quality of our service to the public, ”according to the entity’s guiding principles published on its website.
“Serving the public with integrity” is the motto of the entity founded by Veteran Liberian broadcast Journalist, Frank Sainworla, Jr. who some years back won the PUL Best Journalist of the Year Award.
Meanwhile, the management of this news website has dedicated this prestigious Award to its corps of dedicated and hardworking Reporters across Liberia who have continued to literally volunteer their services, our Liberian IT Specialists providing technical support, as well as to all its tens of thousands of fans in Liberia and across the globe who continue to follow this young news outlet. The number of hits recorded are fast approaching half a million visitors.
Others receiving PUL excellence award for 2018/2019 are Veteran Journalist Kenneth Y. Best’s Daily Observer, which has been existing for 38 years, winning the Best Newspaper of the year;.
Online TV of the Year: KMTV (Kreative Mindz Television); while the Radio and Television Stations of the Year was awarded to: ECOWAS Radio and LNTV (Liberia National Television), respectively.
Other categories include: Business and Economic Reporting: Moses Garzewu of KMTV; Development Reporting: Anthony Stephens, who also won the Investigative Reporting and Journalist of Year titles; Environmental Reporting: Edward Blamo, Frontpage Africa; Health Reporting: Bettie Johnson Mbayo (Frontpage Africa), who also won the award for Women Rights Reporting; Human Rights Reporting: Gbatemah S.K. Senah (Bush Chicken Online), who also won the Land Rights Reporting award; Humanitarian Reporter of the Year: Sampson David (LBS); Newscaster of Year: Fabine Kwiah also of LBS; and the Legislative Reporter of the Year: Musa Kanneh, Truth FM.
Fifteen awards were also given to 15 community radio stations across Liberia.
