SPORT: LFA 2019 Heroes Cup heats-up at in Monrovia

The Liberia Football Association (LFA) 2019 under-15 Heroes Cup continued at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia.

Street Soccer condemned GAC to their second defeat with a 3-0 victory on February 9.

Luther Morlu scored in the 58th minute in between Darlington Scerse’s brace, on 17th and 60th minutes.

C. T. breathed life into their campaign with a 3-0 victory over CYA with a brace from Mohammed Kromah in the first and 41st minutes and Cherubim Koffa sealed the win in the 72nd minute.

Keitrace failed to condemn Hope to their second defeat and could only manage a draw in an eight-goal thriller.

There were braces for Joseph Taylor of Keitrace and Andrew King of Hope while Sugar Jesay and Prince Yarsiah of Keitrace and Moses Blamo and Emmanuel Toejlar of Hope were the other scorers.

Hassan and Junior Marshall drew 2-2 with goals from Daniel Jackson and Richmond Davies for Hassan while Marshall’s goals were scored by Sensee Sherman and Christopher Amos.

One Goal disgraced Wilson Corner 5-2 with goals from Emmanuel Davies in the 26th, 39th, 46th and a penalty in the 47th and

Zeogar Joseph in the 52nd minutes on February 10.

Vendell Lynch and Jack Pony scored in the eighth and 36th minutes for Wilson Corner.

Tommy Gbabyu scored in the 39th minute as Nation One condemned Sam Johnson to their first defeat with a 1-0 victory.

Cece United failed to secure maximum points, drawing 1-1 with Project Football Academy.

Mohammed Turaly gave Cece a 29th minute but Prince Turaly leveled the score 42nd minute.

Ambassadors Football Academy dumped Ambassadors Football Liberia 5-0 in the day’s last match with a brace from Bai Gray in the 38th and 49th minutes. Abulaye Kamara, Nelson Baribo and Joelveeno Yaetoe were also on the score sheet.

The tournament will continue on 15 February with the winner of each group advancing to the semi-finals, which will take place on 22 February, while the grand final takes place on 24 February at the ATS respectively.

The Heroes Cup is the LFA’s desire to celebrate the contribution and recognition of former players, who served and uplifted Liberian football and the national teams.

The tournament is to also honor icons and players like Wanibo Toe, John ‘Monkey’ Brown, Victor Seah, Patrick Doeplah, Benedict ‘Mama Musa’ Wesseh, Josiah Nagbe Johnson, Frank Jericho Nagbe, Sr., Washington Blay, Sakpa ‘Myers’ Nyenswah, Borbor Gaye, Dominic Vava George, President George Manneh Oppong Weah, James Salinsa Debbah and Zeogar Wilson.

It is to also remember several players like Murphy Nagbe, Patrick Jackson and Nathaniel Sherman, who got injured on national duty.
