SPORTS: Africa Sports Academy Sealed Win Over Doris FC In Margibi County

Margibi County’s Champions, Africa Sports Academy has got positive results in its title defense since the start of the LFA-Margibi Sub-Association Third Division 2023/2024 League Season on Tuesday, 6 February.

The Upper End club Africa Sports Academy got the first win since the start of the new season.

J Leaster Kollie lone goal in the 36′ minutes of the first half gives Africa Sports Academy a 1-0 win over DORIS FC at the famous Nancy B.  Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata on Tuesday.

The match which saw the Margibi County Champions Africa Sports Academy missing several chances despite been reduced to 10-men in the game due to Jesse Harris been shown a second yellow card in the match in the 47th ‘ minutes of the second half.

The foul from Harris   in the 18-yard of the box resulted into penalty that saw the visitor DORIS FC missing from the penalty spot after a beautiful save from goalkeeper James Morris of Africa Sports Academy.

The victory on Tuesday, 6 February marks the first win for Africa Sports Academy since the start of the new season while on the other hand the lone goal scored in the first half of the match marks J. Leaster Kollie first goal for club in five games appearances for club.

Since the kick-off of the league Africa Sports Academy suffers played five games recording one win, three defeats and a single draw.

The reigning champions of the LFA-Margibi Sub-Association Third Division League Africa Sports Academy got the first defeat in the opening fixture on 9 January at the Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata in a 1-0 defeat to SLY FC.

The second defeat came at the same venue in an away fixture on 16 January against One Goal Football Academy in an away fixture as the home team defeated the away team 4-2 .

And in marking the third defeat at the same venue, SUSA FC pinned Africa Sports Academy at home in a 1-0 away win over Africa Sports Academy on 28 January.The defeat to SUSA FC marks the first home fixture in the competition.

Champions Africa Sports Academy is yet to taste a defeat at the other venue of the competition but settled to a one-all-draw with JABU FC on 13 January at the Unification Sports Pitch in Smell No Taste.

Despite the three points collected on Tuesday, 6 February at the opened-air Nancy B Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata the club remains at the bottom of the league with 4 points from 5 games, but left with three more games to end the first phase of the competition.

Africa Sports Academy rubs shoulder with KA-CITY on 14 February and FC Quincy on 18 in a home fixture at the opened-air Nancy B Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata.

And its final match on 25 February at the Unification Sports Pitch in Smell No Taste in an away fixture to Weitown United FC to climax the first phase.

Timothy Flomo is on record for been the club highest goalscorer with 2 goals in 4 matches played for club in the competition.

In other development, FC Quincy returns to winning spree as they grab a win on Tuesday, 6 February at the same venue.

Abraham Mulbah and Bill Harris 17′ and 76′ minutes goal in both half secure a convincing 2-0 win at home for FC Quincy over JABU FC in game two while in the final showpiece One Goal Football Academy and KA-CITY share points as both teams played to a scoreless 90′ minutes.

And  on Sunday, 4 February at the Unification Sports Pitch in Smell No Taste Substitute Sally Kollie second half goal salvage a point for SLY FC after Bill Harris gives the Weitown United FC a 1-0 halftime win which saw both teams playing to a one-all-draw to climax the match.

The league takes a break but resumes on 10 and 14 of February.

At the Unification Sports Pitch in Smell No Taste Weitown United FC and JABU rub shoulder while on 14 February at the opened-air Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata in game one Africa Sports Academy and KA-CITY battle while in game two FC Quincy and One Goal Football Academy climax the day showpiece.

One Goal Football Academy is on the of the league table with 11 points from 5 games without a single defeat since the start of the new season.
