SPORTS: In Orange National 2nd Division League-Larry Simone Late Equalizer Salvage A Point For Shaita FC

Young and rising star, Larry Simone’s late equalizer in a tense soccer showpiece salvage his team a point at the North Star Stadium in Mt. Barclay on Sunday, 26 November in continuation of the championship hunt of 2023/2024 Orange National 2nd Division League.

It was a well entertaining soccer match for the Careysburg club, Shaita FC as they play the Mt. Barclay outfit club Nimba United to a two-all-draw in an away fixture.

The home team took an early lead over the visitors. But it was the visitors’ goals price Momo Blamo, who got the equalizer in the first half that saw both teams playing to a one-all-draw at half-time.

Back from recess the home team got on the score sheet for the second time to extend the league to 2-1 over the visitor. But with much enthusiasm from the visitor to seal all three points or a point, it was substitute Larry Simone late equalizer in the second half salvage a point for the visitor Shaita FC with both teams playing to a two-all-draw at full-time.

And on the other and the first half equalizer from the goals prince of the Careysburgs team, Shaita FC marks his thirteen in the league thus far this season. It means that the League MVP sits second place on the goals scoring chat with Gardnersville FC sensational striker, Tho Williams sitting at first place with 15 goals.

As for the hero of the day, youngster Simone has had fever games this season due to injury.

He has never had a start this season thus far in all of his appearance in the competition.

Simone missed the club opening fixture with PAGS FC at the George Weah Technical Center on 10 September where his club won a comfortably 3-1 victory.

Simeon appearance for Shaita FC had never tasted defeat since the start of the season but rather tasted two draws with one at home and away.

Philadelphia FC at the SKD PP in Paynesville on 8 November, Nimba FC at the ATS on the UN Drive in central Monrovia are among other games he did not make an appearance.

Simone registered his first goal for club in his team convincing 3-1 win over Wologisi FC at the George Weah Technical Center in Careysburg on 24 October where he came in as a substitute.

The draw for Shaita FC against Nimba United helps the club maintains first place but stopped the club from extending the table lead to 3 points from rather one-point lead ahead of second-placed Sinoe NPA ANCHOR.

In total Shaita FC has played 11 games in the league with the Careysburgs outfit club winning 8, drawing 2 and suffering 1 defeat.

The first defeat in the league was an away fixture to Junior Professional FC on 21 September at the Tusa Field Sports Stadium in Gardnersville where the Gardnersville team, Junior Professional FC defeated the Careysburg club Shaita FC 3-2.

While on the other hand Shaita FC first draw in the league was at home on 28 October against Samira FC, with both teams playing to a scoreless full-time as Samira FC becomes the only team so far not to concede a goal against Shaita FC in the league of the 2023/2024 Orange National League-2nd Division League.

The Careysburg outfit club Shaita FC is eyeing championship of the Orange National League-2nd Division and promotion to the top tier league of domestic football the Orange National League-1st Division.

Shaita FC is also eyeing the knockout competition of Liberia the Orange Cup where they advance to the next round of the competition after defeating leading club FC Bea Mountain in penalty shootouts after a one-all-draw at home on 5 November.

Still with more interesting results over the weekend on Saturday, November 25, 2023second-placed  Sinoe NPA Anchors defeated Life FC in a narrow 3-2 away defeat at the ATS on the UN Drive, while third-placed Gardnersville FC defeated Nimba FC in a mouthwatering 5-1 away defeat at the SKD PP in Paynesville.

Matthew Theo Williams scores a hattrick in his team 5-1 win over Nimba FC to increase his goals tally to 15 making him the top goal scorer of the goal scoring chat in the competition.

And on Sunday, 26 the Black Man Warrior record the biggest win of round 12 where they defeated Margibi FC 6-3 at home at the George Weah Technical Center in Careysburg.

Round 12 matches of the Orange National League-2nd Division recorded 32 goals with George Weah Technical Center in Careysburg recording the highest win.

And out of the eight clubs playing at home only four recorded wins at home, while out eight clubs playing away only two got a win away.

PAGS FC, Discoveries S.A, Wologisi FC and Black Man Warrior are the four clubs to get a win while Sinoe NPA Anchors and Gardnersville FC are the two clubs to get a win in an away fixture to climax Round 12 of matches of the Orange National League-2nd Division.
